Central's mission is to educate and form present and future ministry leaders.
Degree Programs
- Master of Divinity (M.Div.)
With a new 75 credit hour curriculum, the M.Div. prepares men and women to become professional church leaders and/or ordained clergy for God's service.
- Master of Arts (Theological Studies) (M.A.)
Provides foundational knowledge for persons seeking scholarship and personal enrichment in general theological studies.
- Master of Arts in Missional Churches Studies (with emphasis in Urban Ministry Contexts, Social Justice and Renewal) - Same curriculum as the M.A. in Missional Church Studies, but the courses are contextualized for effective ministry leadership in the urban core.
- Master of Arts in Missional Church Studies (M.A.)
Equips persons for competent leadership in the ministries of starting, transforming, and perpetuating faith communities that are missional in nature.
- Diploma in Theological Studies
The Diploma in Theological Studies offers a basic non-degree program in theological studies to a limited number of mature persons who have not completed undergraduate education. The Diploma requires the successful completion of 48 semester hours and does NOT take the place of a Bachelor degree.
Financial aid:
ABC and CBF - Through Central Baptist Theological Seminary's historic affiliation with the American Baptist Churches and its partnership with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, scholarships are available for students taking at least 6 credit hours and in good standing with their respective congregations. Students meeting the necessary standards are eligible for up to $1000 per semester from seminary and denominational sources.
Other Scholarships - Many scholarships are provided to the school through generous donors who believe theological education is important. These scholarships are distributed through the scholarship committee's review of financial aid applications. Some endowed funds are awarded in accordance with the donor's criteria. Some grants are awarded based on a student's need outlined in the school's financial aid application and available to students from all denominational backgrounds.
Native American Grants - Honoring Central's historic Native American roots, the seminary provides three full tuition grants per academic year to Native Americans. To meet the criteria, a full-time student must show evidence of registration with the US government Department of the Interior as a Native American. The amount of tuition grants provided to any one person cannot exceed the 75 credit hours needed for the Master of Divinity degree.
