With more than 7,000 students, the FHH is the second largest university of the Lower Saxony state capital. emerged in 1971 from several educational institutions, it provides with its five faculties at several locations in Hanover a very wide ranging educational spectrum. Around 650 women and men are employed at the university, half of which is scientific personnel. FHH seeks out an extensive consulting services for the students to realize one of its priority objectives by and by: a more thoughtful study choice and a better orientation in the course of study leads to greater academic success, without question, and in shorter periods of study. For faster integration of our new students and to bridge the study early teething problems, the university offers a wide range of subject-specific tutorials and bridge courses. These measures also increase the proportion of women and better integration of our foreign students will be sought.
Research and development, technology and knowledge are always based on concrete problems of practice. In order to concentrate research activities in 2000, the faculty research "automation environment and bio-processes and systems" (AUBIOS) was established, which is now maintained as a center of excellence AUBIOS. Together with technology transfer, the university ensures that the scientific know-how and experience of the FHH for plants and other facilities are accessible to practice. The Working Group Innovative Projects in the Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture (AGIP) operates projects in the field of applied research at the universities of Lower Saxony.
