Bucerius Law School is Germany’s first private law school with the right to award doctoral and post-doctoral degrees. It was founded by the ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius in 2000. Bucerius Law School has been licensed by the state and has been accredited by the "Wissenschaftsrat" (German Science and Humanities Council).

One-year, English-taught program to train legal and business professionals for the global market taking an interdisciplinary approach to legal and management questions.
BUCERIUS/WHU MASTER OF LAW AND BUSINESS – JOACHIM HERZ PROGRAM
The Bucerius/WHU Master of Law and Business – Joachim Herz Program (MLB) program is offered as a joint program by Bucerius Law School and the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management (located in Vallendar close to Koblenz). It is a one-year, English-language program.
With this master’s program, the two private universities are responding to the increased need in the global economy for legal and business professionals, who have solid knowledge of international business law as well as international management. The academic program consists of complementary law and business courses, an intercultural course of general studies and courses geared toward strengthening professional skills. In addition, participants complete an eight-week internship. At the end of the course of studies, students are required to write a master’s thesis.
The MLB program is designed for international, highly-qualified university graduates, who ideally have already gained some work experience. Tuition for the one-year program of studies is € 22,000. The program helps arrange financial support from companies and foundations. Highly qualified non-German applicants with a business/economics background will be considered, for example, for a Joachim Herz Fellowship. These Fellowships, generously provided by the Joachim Herz Stiftung, provide not only financial assistance, but also entitle Fellows to participate in a variety of networking and other activities sponsored by the Joachim Herz Stiftung.

INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Bucerius Law School offers a one-semester, English-language International Exchange Program each year from September to December. We welcome approximately 80 students from our partner universities to Bucerius – in exchange, Bucerius students spend their mandatory trimester abroad at one of our partner universities. The exchange students to Bucerius Law School participate the “Program in International and Comparative Business Law” that was designed especially for them. In this respect the program is very unique.
Bucerius Law School faculty, international visiting faculty and practitioners teach in the program. The courses offered comply with the standards set by the American Bar Association (ABA) and the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). Courses cover subjects such as Comparative Intellectual Property, The Law of the European Union, International Commercial Arbitration, Cross-Border Activities and Transactions, The Law of the WTO, Comparative Law as well as a survey of German Law. The application deadline for this program is March 31 of each year.
The foreign students and visiting faculty receive administrative support from the International Office in addition to advice, information and extensive services related to studying at Bucerius and life in general in Hamburg. Among other things, the International Office team supports exchange students in finding a room or apartment, in applying for a student visa, opening a bank account and in purchasing suitable insurance policies. To smooth the transition into daily life in Germany, each foreign student is looked after by a German Bucerius student as part of a Buddy system.
The International Office organizes a wide range of extracurricular activities to introduce exchange students to German history and culture. This includes, among others, city tours, one-day excursions to Landmarks surrounding Hamburg, visits to theaters and museums, international evenings and sport events with the German students as well as speeches about Germany’s political system, current affairs and the transatlantic relationship. BUCERIUS SUMMER PROGRAM (HAMBURG)
Bucerius Law School organizes the "Bucerius Summer Program in International Business Law", an intensive four-week English-taught course for international and German students. The aim of this program is to impart knowledge and understanding of the forces shaping international business law. This helps students meet the increasing requirements of companies and law firms in this field. Seven courses in international business law are offered and students can earn credits. Applicants must have completed at least two years of law studies at the time the program begins.

Bucerius Law School organizes the Bucerius Summer Program in International Business Law, an intensive four-week English taught course for international and German law students and graduates. The aim of this program is to impart knowledge and ensure that the participants understand the forces shaping international business law. This will help students meet the increasing requirements of companies and law firms in this field. The program is open to law students and graduates from all over the world. Applicants should have completed at least one year of law studies.
The next Bucerius Summer Program in International Business Law will take place from July 18 to August 13, 2010 on the Bucerius Law School campus in Hamburg, Germany.
There are two deadlines for the application to the Bucerius Summer Program 2010. To qualify for the reduced tuition fee students must submit their application by January 15, 2010. All other applications must be received by April 30, 2010.
