Southern Arkansas University is located in Magnolia, Arkansas, United States. It was established in the year 1909. The university was formerly known as the Third District Agricultural School and Southern State College. The university has degree granting schools and colleges under it, including:

* School of Graduate Studies
The university's Greek life consists of sororities and fraternities such as Alpha Phi Alpha, Phi Lambda Chi, Delta Sigma Theta, Tau Beta Sigma, and Kappa Kappa Psi. The male students of Southern Arkansas University participate in sports such as football, baseball, basketball, and cross country. The women participate in basketball, tennis, volleyball, softball, and track and field. Notable alumni of the university include Tracy Lawrence, award winning country music performer; Tommy Tuberville, former Auburn University head football coach; and Danny D. Scott, newspaper publisher in Springhill, Louisiana.
Financial Aid
The Office of Financial Aid provides financial assistance to qualified students in pursuit of their educational objectives. Assistance is available through federal, state and institutional programs which include grants, loans, student employment and scholarships. All programs are administered in accordance with governing regulations.
Applying for Aid
The first step in applying for any form of financial aid is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It is available in two formats: paper and electronic.
Paper – Students may obtain paper FAFSA’s by calling 1-800-4FEDAID. Once the FAFSA has been completed, it must be mailed to the FAFSA processor.
Electronic – Student may complete the application and submit it directly to the processing center electronically at www.fafsa.ed.gov. SAU’s school code is 001107. |
